Summerville Beach and Provincial Park is one of a number of sandy beaches located on the south shore of Nova Scotia. On this day in late autumn, in the driving wind and rain, my wife and I were the only ones there. While the beach and waves are the attraction for other seasons and other visitors, the windswept tree and the coloured brush on the dunes behind the beach were what drew my attention. This is a handheld shot, for which I had to wait for a slight calm between fearsome gusts of wind. The rain, mostly travelling sideways, isn’t apparent in the photo, but I got pretty wet in the brief time I was outside of the car.
