Psamathe

In Greek mythology, Psamathe (or Psamanthe in some translations of Ovid) was the goddess of sand beaches.  I hope she wouldn’t mind lending her name to title this abstract image. The original shot (mirrored here) was taken at Hawk Beach on Cape Sable Island near the “drowned forest”. In several places, small streams of water flow from the surrounding wetlands to the sea, making patterns as they go, and colouring the sand with purple and brown (tannins from the swampy decay).  This image has turned into a bit of a Rorschach test, as different viewers seem to “see” different things.
