I no longer live in a city, and I don’t really miss it. When I did live in one, I was more drawn (from a photographic perspective) to architectural and textural details than to anything else. If I could have chosen a different career path from what I did, I think architect would be high on the list.
There is a curious interplay between the creator of building, and the person who renders an image of it. I often wonder if the details I chose to frame were foreseen by the architect or designer, or if some were just serendipitous? In the image above, the building is not the star. It’s a colour and design backdrop for something that the landscaper perhaps envisioned – pink against blue, natural against man-made, organic against geometric.
